Mark your calendar on November 8, 2011. YU55 asteroid almost 400 meters in diameter will pass very close to Earth. The distance is 0.85 times the distance of the Moon to Earth.
Asteroids discovered 6 years ago it was not at risk of crashing into Earth even though the Minor Planet Center in Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States, enter the asteroid's path in the category of "potentially hazardous asteroid." Asteroids that can not be underestimated so that research needs to be done.
Scientists plan to create three-dimensional model of YU55 well as predict the density and shape. When YU55 located very close to Earth, it is considered a good time to begin research.
By knowing the speed of spin, shape, density, and other information, scientists can know their location when not near the Earth. Thus, the model predictions can be made to predict the position of the asteroid a few decades or centuries into the future. (National Geographic)
